Would propane be a better fuel than gasoline? Why or why not?
A couple years ago, I purchased a kit to convert a pickup to use propane for fuel. It's sat in the shop ever since. But now, my pickup is broke down with carburetor problems and I have had the worst luck in getting another one put on there that works and getting it put on there correctly. I am not a mechanic, and carburetors completely mystify me. And apparently they seem to mystify most of the people I know that claim to know how to work on this stuff. I am wondering if I would be better off finding someone to convert it to using propane. Would it be more economical? Would the engine suffer more/less wear and tear? Basically I'm looking for the pros and cons to this situation. The pickup is a 1980 F100 with an in-line six cylinder 300. It's got a 3-speed transmission, originally on the column, now through the floor. The original carburetor on it was a one-barrel carburetor, either a Carter or Motorcraft, I'm not sure. Any information anyone might be able to tell me will be appreciated
